☆BLACK TOURMALINE | Grounding & Protection 

 

Black tourmaline, also known as Schorl, is a silicate mineral containing boron and a member of the Tourmaline family. It was named after the village of Schorl in Saxony, Germany, in 1400 A.D. Tourmalines can be found on every continent and have been used and traded since ancient times. They gained popularity as fashion stones about 150 years ago and were even used in ancient Mediterranean cultures.


  • Origen: #Blacktourmaline is found in various locations around the world, including Brazil and several African countries such as Tanzania, Kenya, Madagascar, Nigeria, Mozambique, and Malawi; and Sri Lanka. Can be found in USA too.  It forms through volcanic lava cooling and crystallizing underground, and can be found in underground deposits as well as among beaches, streams, and sediment. 


  • Meaning:  Black tourmaline holds symbolism associated with protection, grounding, reconciliation, and safety. It is believed to have powerful healing properties and serves as a shield against negative energy.


  • Properties: Black tourmaline comes in various shades of black, including inky black, black with blue undertones, and muddy black with touches of brown. It is available in polished or crystal form, with a Mohs hardness rating of 7.5. The stone is durable but can still be scratched. It is known for its magnetic properties and is often used to create a sense of calm and grounding.


  • Zodiac Sign: Black tourmaline is associated with the Libra zodiac sign, reflecting its balancing and harmonizing effects.
